That's good to know about the gulpers.
My first one was cruising fine for a month and when I added my second one the first thing he did was totally mouth him. I wasn't sure if he was trying to eat him then realizing he was another gulper just stopped or was just saying hello.
Then they just started hanging together and sleeping together.
I am on the lookout for another Gulper in the 8"-10" range so I will report soon if anything drastic happens!

Yes I was thinking that the E cat would just bother everything it came across at any stage in life.
I had one many years ago that ended up getting over 12" long and I loved that fish so much! I always had him solo. He was ferocious.
I have ever had only one ecat and even that for a short time, about 1-2 years, 10 years ago. It was housed with a hundred extremely diverse tank mates in a 120 gal and then in a 55 gal but only zapped (a little, no permanent damage) those who would outfeed it or annoy it with chaotic quick movements at feeding times, which namely was our beloved Pimelodus blochii "Cranky". I have never noticed it zapping anyone else (which doesn't mean it never happened). The ecat in that period was 4"-8". FWIW.

Thanks for that. That's another confirmation. How big was the first and how big was the second and who was mouthing who?

The first one is almost 7" and the second one is 6"! The 7" started to mouth the new guy when I introduced him.
They are so ferocious, I almost separated them and a second later they were cruising together.
I will lean on that he was getting ready to swallow him and then realizing he was another Gulper just stopped, but there is a chance he was greeting him.
I do feel that Gulpers enjoy other Gulpers company and feel better when they are in a group.
I never seen them mouth each other again just always together.

I’ve seen pictures of bigger size differences, but the thing about pictures is you don’t know how long it worked for or if at all
