New improved pond.... now with window!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Looking good!, got any pics with residence in?

I'm local to Danny (Tropical Imports), I often nip round to his to swipe the newst imports before anyone else gets a look :P

Where did you get your pond from? I went to Rats, Cats and Elephants in the end, they also had a 40x24 for £30 and a 6x3x2 for £115. I'ved been looking at prices on the net for a while and worked out cheaper to go and buy it from them.

Don't worry, plenty of pics to come!

I know Dan :D My mate owns Woodford Aquatics he got it for me as I said it’s a good cheap fix but you live and learn. To stop the fish from jumping and to keep the heat in I put a Perspex lid on it you get some condensation so next time the edging to the pond will be UPVC wipes down and no maintenance. I insulated my one with rock wool then put the face on it that makes a big difference to.

Very neatly done!

I'll probably just get some conservatory roof sheeting stuff for now to cover it with.

What size is your pond?

I won't bother with insulation the fish room keeps nice and hot with the door shut neways, it's noticible hotter than the rest of the house when you walk in!

So is my one but its makes a huge difference on running costs it’s an odd size just under 7 ft just under 4 ft and 2 ft deep.

Cost I really couldn’t tell you I think the pond should retail at about £150 but as I said I have a good friend who owns a LFS I help him out he helps me out I think you could build one with every thing that’s filter air pump liner wood etc. for £350 when you consider the size and that’s every thing its cheap. You could not bye a quality all glass 3 ft set up for that.

Nicely done.....Is that silicon you used? Thanks

Its lime free gravel just helps the fish stand out that’s why next time a window.
