New indoor turtle pond

Just curious if anyone could recomend species and where to find aquatic plants that wont overrun my small pond, its about 35 gallons. I would also appreciate if someone may be able to identify my turtle. My best guess is that its an eastern painted turtle, I live in NewHampshire any info?

Yep, you got yourself a baby Eastern Painted Turtle. You can try to plant some aquatic plants in there but I've found that they will just get all torn up or pulled out by the turtle. Of course yours is still a baby so you might have luck until it gets big. I keep Anacharis in with my water turtles. It gives them something to snack on, hide in and rest on. The good thing about anacharis is that it doesn't need to be planted in soil/gravel to grow. It does just fine floating around. Nice setup by the way!

Anacharis is illegal in NH BTW.
 
Beautiful turtle ... i just got my twins about a month and a half ago..i love them.. i love your set up.. how big is your baby,,mine are just starting to be 2.5 inches across... found them just hatched at about a nickle size.. heres a pic of my paints..
 
That is a really awesome Setup! Thanks for sharing. As for turtle suggestions. Map turtles stay small, so do stinkpots, or musk turtles. Once again very nice setup.
