I think I need to re-read all this to really understand this filtration system!

It's fairly simple, I'll walk you through it later;)

Various pipes valves and connectors used to make the K1 move.

The black pipe has been pierced with about 200 small holes to turn it into a diy air stone. They all connected together via a T to the air pump and it works after a little bit of tweaking:headbang2

I'll re-read first and get back to you with any questions I might have ;)

So does it look look the 50l pump will be enough air for Both the BD and filter? I am planning on adding one this winter and trying to get a feel for the size air pump i will need.

In a word, no.

In more than a word, to be honest you'd be better off with a bigger air pump or 2 smaller ones. After the pictures I took everything apart again to get better air movement, getting the K1 out was a real pain but I did and got everything out again and pumped the water out, increased the size of the holes slightly and added more. Fired it back up again and everything was great, filled with water, media etc back in and sat back pretty pleased with myself. Only to notice that no air was going to the BD, where was the valve to control the flow to the filter, under the return, under the K1, under the filter grid. Everything back out again.

In short I'll be getting a second air pump at some point one for each
