New stand awaiting its new home

@jsodwi That's some excellent work man! I'm working with a friend to build a stand for a 185 (put up a post in the DIY channel). The recommendation he got from the steel shop was to do 1.25" tubing at 1/8" thickness. Looks like you're going with wider tube on most of your builds -- do you think 1.25 is sturdy enough for a 185 or should we build it out of 2"? I feel like 2" would be sturdier with less cross bracing anyway.

Smallest I’ve done is 1.5” tubing with 1/8” wall that was for a 180g I’ve used 1.25” for a 72 bow front I’ve done a few 180s now with 2” and I don’t even brace anything Just 4 legs and a base and top section My own 180 stand is 44” tall with no bracing at all

Thanks for the quick response! Do you have a picture handy of any of those 180 stands? I feel like it’s probably a fair bit cheaper to go to 2” if you can cut most (or all) of the bracing.

Here’s what we built. 2” steel tubing, and he set the gussets back half an inch so we can build sides out of finish plywood and leave the exposed metal.
