Here's a picture of the UV filter hooked up to a 1" tubing/reduction to a 2" pipe that goes to the outlets in the pond/pool around the entrance. I'll hook a 1,200 gph submersible pump to this set-up. The red handle is to be able to by-pass the uv light. I'm for sure under manned in this area but in the future I'm almost sure that I wont even need the UV light filter. I don't in my other pond and the water is crystal clear. Of course the bog has a good 2 years underneath its belt.

The next picture is of the filter media. I decided to put some filter felt in there to get the finer particles.

Felt works good, at times to good. I have it in my skimmer and it can trap to much debris and run my pump a little dry. Keep an eye on it in the beginning when things are the worst. I use it while doing work in the spring, or when ever I'm in the water.

Ya Baby!!!! My filer pump has been running 24 hours straight and no smoke. Its still running hot, but the experts are telling me that if it hasn't burned out yet that its probably ok. I also have the 55 watt uv on with a 1,200 gph pump going. All is well. Now I have to take the chlorine out of the water. I also have a Bio Bacteria additive which has positive bacteria, peat and barley straw. I was also thinking about putting some of the really green algae from my other pond in the bog filter. The alga almost looks like a fluorescent green. I assume that this is some healthy algae.

My father came yesterday and gave me the best compliment that I could as for from a father/Biologist. He said that "I want to keep walking around, just looking at stuff." That's means that I did a good job.

if you just leave it the chlorine should just evaporate. not sure on the time for your size but for mine it takes 2-5 days (mine is 4800gal) I'd just get a test kit and monitor. once it's gone you could start the cycling process.

nice to see that it's finally running. you've definetly put in ALOT of work and we'll all be glad to see you enjoy the fruits of that.
