Official Off Topic Discussion Thread #1

Hello pops; I called the shop today and the desktop I looked at has sold. They can build another of course.
Here id what I think they are offering for around $499.
An I3 dual core
- 8 GB RAM (do not know what kind)
- 1 TB memory ( Internal I guess)
- solid state HD with 250 GB
- SDS slot ( not sure what that is )
- Windows 10
- office 2010 or 2013
other stuff may cost extra such as a DVD drive.
The owner is out of town till Monday, I will call him then.

not a bad price, comes with key board and a monitor?

The SDS slot is for micro memory cards, like a digital camera has, you take pics they go on the SD card then you pull the card and put in the slot to view or transfer or load onto your pc.

for what you do, it is just fine.

well, looks good to me, should do what you do just fine, and you will find it faster at some thing such as pic load up, when viewing things off the net its not the pc that is slow its the down load speed, I would get just a what ever cd drive. needs to be nothing special. They come in handy for CD some one like family says here is a CD of pics.

on the list i do not see WIFI, you want that included, should be cheap just a card. you are connected to your internet by that now yes?

if you are buy way of a USB stick, that will work in the new pc in a USB port

Hello; I used WIFI for a time but had connection slowdowns and drops. I have used a cable the last couple of years. I run the phone line into a modem and a cable from the modem to my computer. That helped with my internet connection a lot. I am on ATT DSL.

then make sure it has a ISDN hookup for your internet. I Personally love wifi. hate being tied to a wire.
