"There's one thing that you never bounce back from and that's putting your hands on a woman."...said UFC honcho Dana White years ago in a statement....fast forward and video of White doing just that to his wife at a recent gathering in Mexico has surfaced and TMZ was all over it lol.
White has a new venture in the works
The Power Slap League.
Hello; Saw a replay video of the slaps. The wife slapped him first pretty good. He slapped back. Best i recall both were drunk.

Around 1975 I was in a bar in downtown Toronto when an altercation at a nearby table broke out which resulted in a young lady...well, okay, a young female Homo sapiens...being flung bodily across the aisle to land on our table. Having snatched my beer out of harm's way in the nick of time, I leaned forward with some concern and said "Are you okay?'

Without a word she drove her elbow into my face and broke my nose. As I reared backwards in complete shock, she leapt up and followed me as I backpedalled; she was kicking, punching, hitting...and I was blocking, dodging and bleeding. She landed several more good licks before a bouncer expertly grabbed and immobilized her.

Breaking one's nose is usually pretty painless when it happens; it's a shock but the pain usually settles in only somewhat later. Trust me, when someone...even a petite female Homo sapiens...punches you an exercise in frustration.:) that broken nose again only a couple seconds later it begins to hurt immediately.

My date and the other couple we were with drove me to the nearest Emergency room where my nose was examined and the doctor congratulated me on how well I had re-set it myself. When you gingerly feel your own face to assess damage and find your nose is somewhere beneath your right eye, your natural tendency is to slide it back where it belongs. No treatment was required, although the doctor did administer a small amount of cocaine (!), which was a completely new experience for me.

As we drove home I was sullenly quiet, now very swollen, in a fair bit of pain and in no mood for conversation.

In my eyes, any woman who violently attacks a man has immediately lost their right to play the "I'm just a little defenceless frail lady" card, and force can, and should, be met with force.

This is coming from someone who has seen first hand, on a good few occasions in my youth, of the vile alcohol/drug infused wrath that a "frail little woman" can inflict.

The worse case I ever saw was a woman in a club who stuck a broken beer bottle in a guys neck. The guy was ok in the end but it left me with a totally different outlook on the age old argument of whether a man should ever lay a finger on a woman.

If all it takes is some alcohol in one's system to trigger violence against a woman, probably a good idea to stop drinking. Especially someone that has boasted in the past about being a trained fighter. (amateur boxer) Total DB move.

Hello; I must agree with you to a degree that once a woman starts kicking or punching she has voided the age old deal. Still a man has to keep control and not beat up a smaller female too bad. The video in question about D White was a good example. The wife put a good lick on his face which left a mark. He open hand slapped her back once and stopped. He did not keep on as some I have known would do. D White also did not try to weasel out of it and make excuses later. He said on film he had no excuse for the slap.
Been around a lot of drunks. Enough to know some are mean drunks be it male or female. Best i can say from experience is they cannot be changed so avoid them after the first episode if you can. Too bad if they live with you. Move away as soon as you are old enough can work but you leave a mother and younger siblings to take the violence that used to be focused onto you as the oldest. My family got lucky in that my father had to leave the state to avoid a warrant soon after I escaped. They were lucky in that.
I am hard line of not accepting being drunk as an excuse for violence or car wrecks. DUI's are too often not punished hard enough.

Easy to say...but, depending I suppose upon one's upbringing, difficult to act upon. I agree with you...and if you had said that to me on the morning of that day, I probably would have agreed even back then...but in the moment I just could not do that.

I agree...but it would be an even better sentiment with the phrase "against a woman" removed. Some people simply should not drink. They know who they are. If they drink and then harm a woman or anyone else they should get their just desserts.

Alcohol does not make them a-holes. They are already a-holes, who can perhaps behave themselves and control their antisocial impulses on a day-to-day basis. Alcohol simply removes their ability or desire to control themselves, freeing them to be true to their nature...as a-holes.

Agreed. I am fed up with alcohol or drug abuse being used almost to excuse violent behaviour, against family or anyone else.

There was an addiction recovery institution in Toronto back when I lived near there, and they had a series of radio ads that featured "addicts" or maybe actors who told their tales of woe. Listening between the lines almost always resulted in mental images of suffering visited upon family and friends of these individuals. The ads always ended with a phrase to the effect that "I am not a bad person, or a weak person, I'm just sick".

Guess what? You may indeed be sick...which in no way guarantees that you are not also bad and/or weak. And you did what you did; you're responsible for your actions. The booze didn't make you do that stuff...it just made you badder and/or weaker...but you are responsible for drinking in the first place. So, you're getting help dealing with your alcohol problem? That's great, congrats! Now, stick out your arms for the cuffs, because you're going to jail for what you did, whether drunk, sober...or just as a result of being an a-hole.

You can even take the alcohol element out of the equation altogether and there's still a huge problem. Domestic violence is a major problem, and it's not always men who are the instigators.

During COVID domestic violence reports went through the roof because people were cooped up together. They couldn't remove themselves from a "situation".

I'd say alcohol is the major trigger in most cases though. Like you said, it turns ********s into even bigger ********s.
