Good job:thumbsup:, very nice of you to save those arows, even if you didn't plan on getting them in the first place.

Finally, I am able to get some wide shots again as I've set the w/d filtration up on a stand.

The above photo shows that the intake of the 5 tier cabinet is almost directly across the output. The below shows the pump in action beside another bulk head that provides undercurrent that all the occupants seem to like.

Crawls around the pond via hose:

Goes up almost 6 feet via PVC, lowers the GPH to about 1,000 or so.

First two layers are mainly mechanical filtration

Lots polyfiber wool, floor scrubbers, sponges etc

Lower crates are more biological filtration, on the left side is like 10 stacks of those artificial mats, some token ceramic rings and 3 bio balls, just for fun:

The other cabinet (4 tier) is almost filled with scrubbies, the output is a bathroom strainer, the turbo output is PVC material, am not sure what you call it, just male and female PVC connectors I guess.

The IDs doing splendid, constantly playing and chasing each other down. For the first time, they were able to do circular laps, they actually look happy and content doing it. See, I told you they love the powerhead!

Aros doing great too

Some wide shots, still need to tidy up the pond

That's a red tilapia, the official janitor of uneaten food, the foot long giant gourami waiting in the wings and the foot and half long Clown Knife Fish in his perenial hiding place :irked:

I drained the water by almost 25% as a precaution against the jumpers. My usual level submerges the entire center driftwood.

From the top

Fish room's a mess, will clean this up one day

Any suggestions for improvements on:

1. Filtration
2. Aquascaping
3. Aesthetics
4. Anything else...

First off....YAY FOR FULL SHOTS! I knew all this anticipation wouldn't go to waste.

You should come up with a way to make the outside not look like an above ground pool and also turn your filter into a decorative waterfall. That's my vote. Oh and hide those baby mats that you talked about earlier in the thread. Just a little more cover should do it.

Have you decided what to do for jump prevention on the aro's yet?

The pond looks excellent. I can't wait to see further progress. Keep it up!

That's a great suggestion. Maybe I can paper mache it all over and make it look like a volcano with a big opening. What was your thinking on the waterfall, the outflows from the W/D are barely a foot above the surface if the pond is filled up, am at a loss how to do a water fall effect without sacrificing the water passing through the various cabinets for mechanical and bio filtration.

For now, I cover the pond every night with a light tarpaulin, I tied plastic straw ropes all over the top sorta like a spider web to prevent the tarp from resting on the surface of the water. However, I uncover the pond during the day to give the fish ample lighting and exposure, they seem to get restless when it is covered during the day, I heard loud thuds a few days ago when the pond was covered during the day. Don't know if they were aro jumps or ID sharks thrashing the water during the course of their rough play.

If I were doing it I would cover the filtration unit in the front with a piece of plywood (with holes for your output) on some sort of stand and then do tile or stone work on it. I would then connect a small pump that ran to the top so you could get water flow over the tile/stone that would flow in with your filter output. That's off the top of my head and probably has major flaws but I think you can get the picture. I bet someone in the DIY section has done something similar that may actually work lol.
