Sounds like a good list. Some say acei get too big but I've have in 4ft tanks before and it wasn't too crowded. They get about 6-7".

Thanks! I'll go ahead and shoot Dave an email. I'm okay with doing water changes a little more frequently if they get 7".

I've seen Acei a few different times and noticed that some are very dark almost black with a purple tint, I am really looking for the ones that are almost sky blue like in the picture on Dave's website.

Are these 2 different sub species or are they just variances among specimens? sorry if your not an expert but figured I might as well ask.

Probably different collection points. There are also white or yellow tail variations.

ah, ok ill make sure to mention something about it in the email.

They will probably be juveniles right? should i ask for sexed fish so I don't end up with 4 males and 1 female? Again first time ordering fish online so I'm not sure how much the vendors will put up with? Young juveniles are very difficult to sex correct?

With the 3 you've picked males and females look the same. Luckily they are also 3 of the most peaceful and multiple males tolerate each other. Its normally suggested to order more to increase your chances of getting females. The sale or trade off extra males. It may take a day or 2 for an answer, but Dave will prett much answer any questions.

Awesome! Thanks for the help yall I really appreciate it. Ill see about ordering 7 or so of each and picking through them over time. These fish do not seem to be particularly expensive. Starting a thread soon about a 180 gallon I have the option of purchasing. Keep an eye out! ;) Thanks again, Ricky

Labs and rusties are a good choice. I would want acei in a bigger tank. What about Cynotilapia sp. hara instead?

Those would be fine as well if they would be better suited to a 48x12. Any others you would reccomend?

If either of you are fimiliar I noticed Dave's has "Metrioclima Zebra Manda" would these be docile and small enough as well? I like how that species is dimorphic.
