It is possible. Just very difficult. The key is having dithers. And it also depends on the fish.

Giant danios or Buenos Aires tetras. I also had a school of silver dollars in there, but they started munching on the plants.
Would just getting another Oscar in there work? The TT eel being full sized at around 3+’ and 2 oscars would be a huge bioload I know, but I’m retired so the extra maintenance wouldn’t be an issue. Just not sure if a second Oscar would work well enough as a distraction or if they would just team up to wreck the plants lol
I wouldn't....... In a 125 gal you are already pushing it for adults. Then you add plants, wood, substrate, etc (I assume)..... And that just won't be enough room. And please be sure, it wasn't easy keeping that tank up. Hence why I no longer have it setup. But if you have your heart set on it, and have an emotional attachment to the idea, go for it but in moderation. Because you are already pushing the limits.
Well it’s a 120, 4’x2’x2’, running a Fluval FX6, it has some large stones encasing a length of PVC for the TT eel, moss on the stones, some Anubias barteri on the stones, some Crypt lutea placed in between the stone, the Valisnera is getting moved to my 350g, and about a 3/4”-1” layer of sand on the bottom. Being medically retired leaves me a lot of time for doing multiple water changes per tank each week, so I may try it, I have people I can give the other Oscar if it gets to be too much. My biggest concern is just if the other Oscar would act like a dither and keep the plants safer
I just dont know about the second Oscar acting as a distraction away from the plants. I have just never done it. Another option is to do a Hardscape with your plant aspect being floating plants. That way you dont have to worry about stuff getting ripped up and messed with. Still get the green planted tank feel. And get shadows, and just adds an awesome dynamic. Might try that if the other doesn't work
