Over-Tank Filter

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Looks good to me! But like I said before, I would keep the water level as low as allowed and possibly shorten the with.

I'm thinking of reducing the overall height to 1 foot and the width to 8 inches (as compared to 2 feet and 1 foot respectively)...

That would decrease the capacity of the filter but should solve the weight issue (and come back cheaper to build)...

BTW, I thinking about modifying the design to include a filter sock (if ever I can find where to purchase one of these)...

More input please! :)

seems like a good idea make your to read up on hydrophonics and keep us updated , only problem i see is with the can pumping the water the turn over rate might be to high as plants require a pretty long dwell time to soak up the waist in the system .

dont use filter socks, they clog so easily and would have to replace regularly, and can lead to overflowing

because i do not believe in cannisters and their flow capacity. And because I would prefer "untreated water " to enter such sump system....

Thanks a lot, guys. :)

Then I could maybe use a powerhead to feed the sump... this should decrease the flow rate (which the plants would benefit from) and use "untreated water"... and I'd stick to the original design and not use the filter sock...

Check out King Edwards aquaponics set-up. Very similar, different style.
(ask him about clogging up).
