careful, I got a tank from somebody who had turtles in the tank and the bottom 2-3 inches are scratched all to bits. No problem for me because of the stand. Also (i'm paranoid) they could scratch into the silicon and make the tank leak.

Hey Amber,
I think it's a cool idea in theory but usually naturalistic tanks with mixed species are VERY big. If you have a big enough tank anything is possible. Keep in mind that turtles produce a ton of waste and require frequent water changes. The water changes might be too frequent for the fish (not sure on that as I'm mostly a reptile keeper). Also, make sure it's legal to keep native fish as pets in your state. I know where I live there are some native species of fish and turtles that we can not keep in captivity or that require permits. The turtle may nip at the fins of the fish but in my experience if the fish is too big or too fast it will simply become a tankmate. If you have any more turtle questions let me know!
Best wishes,
Mike

Yes, it's not a good idea to mix hatchling turtles with adults! Even hatchling turtles together will sometimes nip at each others tails or bite their feet or tails. Adult turtles could really do damage or even kill the hatchlings.

Actually mud/musk turtles are all omnivores and some are almost strictly carnivorous! They do stay small (with the exception of Staurotypus!) though and make great natural tank specimens! I've got a razorback musk that I'm trying to place right now. Really cool species but I just have no plans for him.

Yeah, a mud turtle or musk probably wouldn't bother the fish if they are larger than it. They stay small and mostly eat vegetation.
