has anybody use bulkheads on the bottom without any problems

Yes, I have. As others sugested as well, it's the best option because if you ever decide to sell the tank a nasty patch job turns off potential buyers. Having the holes still available makes a "closed loop system" attractive to saltwater guys. I used a flat plug on top of the 2" bulkhead fitting and a round plug on the bottom for double coverage and because I already had them lol.. Hang on a sec and I'll go snap a pic for ya. :D

Here's the pics. As you can see the sand covers the flat plug on top (in the tank) and you would never know it's there.

of course! lots of tanks have plumbing on the bottom. and the only way to have a pipe run through a tank is with a bulkhead. i wouldnt want to buy a tank with a ghetto patch job. a bulkhead is so much easier, and no messy glue needed

I agree that bulkheading it off would give a better re-sale value. Where can I find a 3" bulkhead tho cause the biggest I have seen so far, where I live are 2"ers

Awesome thanks for all your guys advice, i did end up purchasing bulkheads and will be plugging the bottom. And will be drilling on the back left and right top for overflows.

why not just use bulkhead plugs

I didn't go with bulkheads because I'm using a metal stand and the cross supports go right across the hole openings. The only thing I could do is patch it. The OP might have a similar issue with his stand? If not, I would advise "go with bulkheads".
