Payara (Cynodontidae et al.) ID and Care Guide 2.01

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I haven't seen any on any of the vendors lists for some time. They are harder to come by than armatus.

What size tank do they require?

They're slow growing and don't get very big. You're unlikely to see one bigger than about a foot in an aquarium. As such, a 6' by 1.5' footprint would work, but a 6' by 2' would be better as I assume that it probably won't be solo.

2.01 update- Minor format changes to improve readability after the migration.
