Hello,

Could somebody please assist me in the finding of information of Peacock Cichilids? As with these fish, I have only been able to find a limited about of information on them, and I would one day like to have one in my tank that I am soon to have.

Thanks,

Shane, :headbang2

they grow to about 5-7'' in length...and can be variations in colors...depending on what kind of peacock cichlid you get..very nice and colorful IMO

Ah, alright
Thank you very much! Does the color you get vary with temperments or anything of that nature? Or is the only real difference just the colors?

Thanks again,

Shane,

Depends on the species. Certain males will start out dark, but will lighten when given a harem of females and are fed a diet of color enhancing foods. But if said male is in a tank with other males and becomes the dominant fish, there's a chance his colors won't change.

Well if you mean that if they are brighter or something that they are more agressive then no. There are different species that can be a little more agressive but for the most part I think the temperment stays the same. I used to have a couple but don't member much about them.

Ah, alright.
I'll keep all of this in mind. I only plan on having one Peacock Cichlid in my tank with my other fish though.

1 in with what other fish cause most peacocks are peaceful and easily attacked if put with the wrong fish

Try the Nimbochromis species. They have the yellow body and the blue metallic face and the females have a brown camouflage pattern. More attractive than most other females. They are a little more agressive than other peacocks so definitely only one male.

Shane, I would suggest you stay away from peacocks if you want to put I in wuth other fish. They are not that robust and could quite easily snuff it depending on what the opther fish are in the tank. If you want a really great looking blue fish then I would suggest you look for a Scianochromis fryeri(Ahli/Electric blue). The blue colouring on the male is unbelievable. Please list the other fish you were hoping to add your fish to as this will help us help you to choose the right one.
:naughty: :woot: :clap :headbang2

i have a tank of peacocks. they get along fine. 4 all togeather, along with a gourami and a crayfish. everyone gets along great. they are all about 4-5".
