Hi I was wondering if any of you knew?

I'm not going to try powerfeeding high protein foods, I'm not impatient for him to get huge, just wanna know what the normal growth rate is for these fish.

Do you know how fast these fish grow?

Btw my names not peter that just happens to be the common name for this species, 'peters elephantnose fish'. Not to be confused with a second species of elephant nose that's brown and grows larger.

Thanks for your time. :)

I think they have an average growth rate, nowhere close to a cichlid though.

they can be hard to feed because they have tiny mouths and can be picky eaters. I'm sure this is one fish even you could get bitten by and not bleed.

I had 1 a long time ago. But yea I already know how to feed them I fed mine live bloodworms. I didn't know what I was doing at the time He lived for like a year and then I got ich and raised the temp to 92 (unwise), turned the aerator on so loud I had to sleep on the couch for a week. Found it dead the next day then read online that they hate noise and are very sensitive and have scaleless skin (didn't do 1/2 dose...)

So like
1"/2-3months ?

well good luck with this one! i found the peters i used to have grow very slow especially in comparison to my Campylomormyrus tamandua id say an inch every 4 months being fed bloodworm 3 times a day.

I must say I am pleasantly surprised how hardy this fish is atm. I Just fed him a frozen bloodworms treat and dropped a couple tiny nls pellets in and he gobbled them up and begged for more. Also he is by all means active and swimming around the tank out in the open. No hiding for this fish. And his colors have turned extremely vibrant, pitch black with a bright fluorescent yellow stripe along the end of his body. I am very pleased, I was expecting a fish that would need a lot of tlc and care but what I have received thus far has been a hardy, sociable fish, and a beautiful one I might add.

I must say Mr. B I love the enthusiasm in your posts! lol

You got any pics of this little monster? I'd like to see him.
