What heritage in the hobby. So glad you have the tanks and the story. Wonder if my grandkids will remember my tanks and if they will keep fish some day. Interesting place to go and think or a while. They see the tanks and I guess time will tell. My daughter kept a tank until she had kids. Three littles ones and not much time to mess with fish for now.

My dad always had tanks, but in all the pictures we have, there is no tank pics. Keep finding those pics, I love these pics and tanks.

i was raised around tanks and fish and its been my hobby for a long while on and off so its contagious :D

"just remembered 2 more tanks lol cant believe i forgot these"
he made 2 50g for me and a buddy like 10-12 years ago
we painted his house and shop and for pay we both got 50g tanks :headbang2
he helped us build the stands and he did the tanks
i had fish in it for a while then i kept a baby gator
best pet ever!!
but my parents let it go cus they said i wasnt feeding it
but gators dont eat everyday is what i said lol
:D
i sold my tank :( but my buddy still has his,in storage, with a cracked side :irked:
was going to buy it till we found it cracked
tempted to get it and try to fix it tho :D

Hey Midnight, great thread man! You're grandfather rocks bro. Did he pass down his tank building skills to you? Have you guys ever built any tanks together?

lol when I read the title, I thought I was going to see a bunch of old tiny tanks. Not antique monster tanks.

i have watched alot of times and he taught me some stuff
i know the basics now and have cut down and redone an all glass bio box "its a start" :D

but here is the best part :naughty:
wasnt going to say till i had some pix but
i inherited all his glass tools :naughty:
6' strait edge
2' - 3' - 4' - squares
all the hand cutters, chemicals, glass breakers, and so on
plus got a special mini drill press to drill holes in glass and the glass bits :naughty:
even some glass but i have no where to store the glass :irked:

ya you dont hear "my grandpas tanks" much :D

here it is
the mack daddy of tanks
:naughty:
my aro would love this tank
:D
wish i could have seen this in person
my dad said he helped with it,lucky
:)
im unsure on the size of this 70's monster
this is no lie
where that tank was i measured
it was
15 feet from wall to wall
so im guessing the tank was 14 feet long, give a foot for that side filter and spaces
but that throws off the lights :irked:
how long are the lights?
i see gaps between them so 4- 3 footers?
cant be 4- 4 footers cus that would be 16 feet and im pretty positive it is 15 feet wall to wall
"will double check next trip over there"
I absolutely love this tank. So cool.
