i've been looking up pinima's and kelberi's max size and when i clicked on fishbase's link and it said that pinima's max size is 52 cm (about 21") and for kelberi's max size it said about 28 cm (about 10") but anyways,

so cichla peps, what is the max size for c. pinima and c. keberi?

pinima grow the size of tems (36"+)

kelberi taxonomy thread-

http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=196912

to sum up, some varinets may grow as little as 10", but there's a few 18"ers floating around aswell.

thanks XR,

are pinima's moderatly fast growers like tems?

also, so what is the biggest kelb anyone has seen/heard of..... and varinet of them.

pinima from what i've seen of peoples here, grow at the same if not faster rate of tems. the biggest kelberi i've seen is (was) lewis23's which is 18", i know alot of people are keeping them now, so i'm sure a guy like Li (neoprodigy) or seichi from japan have ones the rival or dwarf that fish.

ok, so would you think that kelbs are a better choice for a 125 gal? (not for life of course, but based on smaller size compared to more common cichlas)

seeing as though that they grow pretty slow (saw that on the kelberi pix and info thread) and that they usually max out at the size of my 125 gals width (18")

kelberi would be the only cichla that would be able to stay in a 125 6'x18" for a long time, at least into later adult hood. intermedia are small growers aswell (18-21").
