Planted Betta Tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks :) Im going to a small LFS today that sometimes has aquatic plants, we'll see what I can find. I used to keep and breed bettas and I guess I forgot just how much personality some of them can have. The one I picked up is so full of personality its amazing, now I know he wouldnt last 20seconds in with any of my other fish but he tries to think hes a badass flaring at my finger and prancing around the tank glass.

Your betta tank is nice looking as well, what size is it?

I had an old metal frame slate bottom tank it was beautiful....only about 8-9 gallons tho. I tried re-sealing it several times and it just wouldnt work for me. I think my mom is using for a flower pot of sorts now tho. I do like the old tanks they have a certain class :)

The LFS I went to yesterday didnt have any plants that were more than barely clinging onto a shred of life, so Im hitting up another today....hopefully I can fnd something. id actually like to find a banana plant for it...theyre kind of nifty from what I remember with them :)

i have a 1.5 planted betta tank i have amazon sword plant it's tiny tho, and i bunch of other little plants. it,s not that hard to clean and take care of my betta love's it.

I have a 5 gallon and a 6 gallon betta tanks. They have java fern, java moss, water sprite and one has an anubias coffeefolia and both have "betta bulbs".

The betta bulbs are aponogeton plants and they grow long leaves that float on the top of the tank. Most petshops and Walmart carry them. The only problem with them is that they can be duds. However, they're cheap enough that it shouldn't really matter. :-)

I have a love/hate relationship with the water sprite. I like the bits I've tied to a piece of driftwood and I like how it floats on the surface, but I do NOT like the ugly mass of roots it develops and then hang in the tank. It grows pretty quickly too, and the dying leaves almost always have little plantlets growing from them, which I pluck off, dispose of the dead leaf and then toss the new plantlet back in the tank.

I can't seem to get a decent picture of my tanks, but I took videos of each of them and put them on youtube. Here's the links:

I love (and spoil!) my little fishies! They know "the spoon" means FOOD and would follow it to hell and back! LOL!

You have some very beautiful bettas :) Mine knows the spoon well to...he sees it and knows hes getting from frozen bloodworms for dinner and gets all so excited. He doesnt get so excited over the bag of hikari tho :P

my 2.5gal betta tank has 2 stalks of lucky bamboo. i dont like it though. have you ever tried ricca. it grows floating or tied to a rock or driftwood.

How about this i have this baby on my office
