Hi,

Do you know if the HDX or Husky brand Storage Bins from Home Depot are safe to transport or house
live fish for quarantine? It just says made from recycled polypropelene.

Polypropylene is fish-safe. They make glue bottles out of it because it is so inert you cannot glue it.
The LFS has had polypropylene screens on his overflows for many years.
I make polypropylene siphons out of 1.5" & 1.25" poly floor tubes. They are heat-welded.

You probably could but from my personal experience Rubbermaid Totes are fish safe. I've been using one for a sump over 10 years. The Rubbermaid Totes are thicker and won't bow easily.

I have used Brute, Husky, HDX, and Bella, as well as others. No issues.

You get more contamination from your vinyl/plastic garden hose.

This is my first sump system, built from poly bins from Lowes. I've been running it for years now, and it currently serves my brackish tank.

The bins are polyethylene and the lids are polypropylene, pipes are polyvinylchloride. All quite safe.

Yes indeed make great extra tanks
Yeah that makes a good budget breeder, and the fish enjoy the extra privacy of not being under glass. My most successful breeding of fish has been in plastic bins.

Finally I will say that I keep two or three bins empty, just sitting around in my garage for emergencies, with nothing in them.
