Well if you get your electric blues you can at least make your own blue gene golds if you don't have any yet. Exciting!

These are the gold fry. I'm pretty sure the blue gene pair should be wigglers tonight so I'll probably do the same thing and pull them. I'll probably work on the hatcherythis weekend so I can move grow both sets out in there. It will allow me to divide them up a little more as some of the fry outgrow the others. I'm going to try to separate by size so that if there were platinums they don't get outcompeted and become a snack. I'll also have to up my bbs hatchery because I don't think the current system can handle two batches of fry at once.

Pulled the blue gene fry tonight. They are wiggling away.

And this is the hatchery. Empty for now. I have a pump for it but in order for each section to get proper water flow I need to plumb three diverters one for each return.

Wow. That's looking pretty legit. I think you may be crossing from hobbiest into breeder territory my friend.

Unfortunately you need more than some fancy looking equipment to be a breeder. I need to improve the numbers that make it to a sellable size. It probably has had to do a lot with my brine shrimp hatchery so I'm going to try setting up something a little nicer before I launch into the main project for this weekend.

So... the fry keepers don't work that well at keeping the fry out of the main tank. As a result the fry have been mixing a little.. the good news is that I can tell them apart still. Trying to keep as many in the fry keeper as I can. Also have the hatchery running. I am still working on the plumbing that will create better flow throughout the tank but for now it runs and has some grow outs in it to start cycling the media. If I decide to move the fry I'll transfer the sponge filters. Also a picture of the some of the grow outs blues, platinums and some gold gene jacks this was from a different pairing from my own tanks. I hadn't planned on adding the platinums to the grow out tank so soon but the girlfriend wanted a saltwater tank and all my tanks got relegated to the basement which has now become my fish room.

Almost forgot about these guys... all apparently gold. I am hoping to grow them out and cross them with the blues. Once that's done the plan would be to cross to a platinum.

Looking good. Now are you going to need both parents with both blue and gold genes to produce the platinums?

I will, that's why crossing the gold fry with a blue gives me 100% blue gene gold gene and if I cross that with a platinum I should get a nice mix

25% each of
Blue gene gold
Blue gene gold gene
Platinum
Gold gene blue
