Platy x Endler ???

I've had 2 female Red Wag and 1 female??? Gold Mickey Mouse Platys for years, I know one of them has bred in the past, but there have been no males for years and years. No babies.

I recently introduced a group of Endlers into the tank and also did a massive cleanup.

Both Red Wags look like they're full of babies. Did I misgender the Mickey Mouse and it was just not breeding or can Endlers and Platys cross?

Platys are easy to sex so I can’t imagine you not knowing what they are for years. They’re most likely all female as you’ve guessed….especially if they’ve never bred for you.

However, is it possible that you have mollies and have mistaken them for platys? Endlers x platys is not a possible cross but it is possible to crossbreed endler x mollies they’re both Poecilia.

No it's 100% 2 female Red Wag and one ??? Gold Mickey Mouse. One of the Wags bred years ago. The three have been together for years so if the Mickey Mouse was a male and wanted to mate it's had 2 females around for years.

The Endlers look pure but might have some Snakeskin Guppy genetics??

Zero Mollies, hence my incredible confusion.

Did my Mickey Mouse Platy magically grow some balls? We'll see if babies appear I guess. I can't imagine Endler X Platy will survive.

What a mystery. If you’re sure they are all platys and endlers, there is zero chance of them crossbreeding. Maybe your red wags are sick and bloated? Post a pic

I am beginning to suspect that exceeding the normal 3-4 year lifespan for Platys may not result in healthy fish?

They look and act fine they're just fat now. No pineconing, fins are great, colors good, etc.

I honestly don't know the normal death spiral for Platys. Are their organs outgrowing their bodies due to weird breeding for color vs. form?

They sound healthy. Hopefully they are not sick but have more life in them. Would be a real shock if they did give birth

Food is going in, poop is coming out and they're swimming just fine.

I'm not gonna be mad if the Gold Mickey Mouse is a male and not a stunted female and it somehow decided to knock up my ancient Red Wags.

Possible Parthenogenesis? One last try for offspring before death?

That would absolutely nuts if parthenogenesis occurred or maybe they switched genders like some wrasses
