Yes that’s why buying super reds when they’re young can be a gamble. They can either turn out to have no colouring or shadings of red, or turn out amazing and have full scale red shine. That’s why young red arowanas cost $700-$800 ( in Singapore, my country) while full scale shine adult arowanas can cost $1600-$4500
Damn, I thought super reds were overpriced in general but compared to prices in your countries its a bargain here in Indonesia. Here young super reds cost about USD 200-250 and for young ones and an adult would be around USD 700-3500 and above that are those that have won championships or those that are unique like the platinum super red. But super red is not that rare here 7/10 LFS have them (if the owner is Chinese its100%). I've been to a few LFS specialised in only super reds and no other fish. I'm planning to get myself one once I understand the ins and out of proper asian arowana fishkeeping, wew am I glad I'm living in Indonesia haha. I'm eyeing this two super reds both cost around USD 760, either that or I take my chance with young ones.Exactly!! Here in Dubai if the scales are red you are paying a miniumum of 10000 AED or nearly 4000 USD. This is not even full red just the scales have got 1mm of red. Reds need a lot of tanning and grooming compared to golds, once my fish is settled in his new tank and reaches 10 inches I'll start soft tanning!! and will keep the my fellow monster keepers updated!!
