pleco changed color dramatically

Didn't know it was a week, something truely stressing him, water params? Maybe agression?

I'm quite surprised that the people so far think this sort of colour change it normal. It's not. About 6 months ago one of my Panaque nigrolineatus (L190) did this and reverted to back to normal, and it still is outwardly healthy. It's not thought to be harmful to the fish and is unknown what causes it except maybe stress, but here is some discussion about on on pleco colour morphing and a German article about other morphing species

He looks pretty cool to me! I think it looks better than a normal royal. If he is still eating and eyes and stomach is not sunken then I wouldn't worry too much. But i understand your concerns. Just do what you can and keep your tank up to par and I'm sure he'll be ok, if not then there was something wrong with the pleco and there was nothing you could do. GOOD LUCK!
