Caesars;4285043; said:78 - 80 is a pefect temperature for scobiancistrus (L14) while they are growing. You are keeping it in very high temperatures. That means that they fish need more oxygen but also that their metabolism increases considerably. Which in turns means: they eat more, so they pollute the water more and they grow faster so the will die quicker. Lower the temperature you are keeping them in so you can play with it later if you pair them off and you want to breed them.
Speeded up metabolism means shorter life span. Check Dr. Innes old aquarium book "Aquarium Fishes"/ I know a little outdated but Innes was a pioneer in the hobby.McPhishy;4285065; said:So it is fine at 84F as long as there is good aeration and oxygen right?
Kinda like would you prefer your house at 90 or 68. 90 willl not kill you but I sure would prefer 68. 90 would be way too uncomfortable for me anyways
Where did you get that fact? Faster growth rate doesn't mean shorter life span.
