Can I keep a L14 goldy and L48 pleco at 84F for life? Is the temperature a bit on the high side? Zero if you're out there, post my answer please.

Would the temp also depend on water movement/high oxygenation? I'm guessing if you go with 84, you might want to consider a spray bar and/or air stone for more water oxygenation.

Large plecos like that need a lot of o2. Why temp so high? Discus? I would lower it to 80 if you could but if it has to be 84 make sure you have a lot of aereation.

78 - 80 is a pefect temperature for scobiancistrus (L14) while they are growing. You are keeping it in very high temperatures. That means that they fish need more oxygen but also that their metabolism increases considerably. Which in turns means: they eat more, so they pollute the water more and they grow faster so the will die quicker. Lower the temperature you are keeping them in so you can play with it later if you pair them off and you want to breed them.

So it is fine at 84F as long as there is good aeration and oxygen right?

Where did you get that fact? Faster growth rate doesn't mean shorter life span.

Kinda like would you prefer your house at 90 or 68. 90 willl not kill you but I sure would prefer 68. 90 would be way too uncomfortable for me anyways

Speeded up metabolism means shorter life span. Check Dr. Innes old aquarium book "Aquarium Fishes"/ I know a little outdated but Innes was a pioneer in the hobby.

too hot .78-80 is just fine.

not too hot at all, scobinancistrus like it hot, especially L14.

That's one of the reasons they're often kept with rays.

With proper aeration, there's nothing to worry about!
