O.K. This weekend I got another coat on the back and sides, I have just to apply another coat to the front section and the base. I should be doing this tonight (Monday 17/03/08).

While working on the front section yesterday I had about 150-200mils of product left and next thing it went off in the bucket, it skinned up and started to get hot and I mean hot, not sure what caused this, it was a little warmer yesterday when I applied the coating. But I don't think it was any hotter than any other time I had applied the pond shield.

I will upload some photo's tomorrow night, as I probably won't get time tonight after I finish the final bits.

The glass front will be ordered later this week and then I will have to organize to have 4 people to help unload the glass and place in tank.

I am expecting to be complete in 2 weeks and to add water in about 4 weeks from now. This will give 2 weeks cure time for the silicon.

Ok, so what exactly are you coating the wood with, and how are you getting a 10ft long piece of glass.... or is it acrylic?

The coating is Pond Shield by Pond Armor. The Glass will be 9ft long and getting it through a mate who has a LFS. :)

21-03-08 - Update

O.K. I have completed the final coat, I have ordered one more kit of Pond Shield to have for touch ups etc.

I went through the kits I had and scrapped up about 90ml and was able to touch up a few remaining spots.

Here are the pictures

I have ordered my glass at 2740 x 685mm this give me a bit of room round the edges to allow for the uneven coating.

The internal dimensions of the tank are 2760 x 700 x 1000mm which by my calculations gives me 1932 Liters , 429 Aussie Gallons, 508 us Gallons
This is the list of fish I am wanting to put in:
  • 3 x Banded Leporinus
  • 1 x Chocolate Cichlid
  • 3 x Silver Shark
  • 1 x Redtail Black Shark
  • 1 x Jack Dempsey
  • 1 x Pimelodus Ornatus
  • 1 x Salvini
  • 1 x Giant Gourami - Pink
  • 2 x Kissing Gourami
  • 2 x Oscar
  • 1 x Convict
  • 1 x Braziliensis
  • 6 x Clown Loach
  • 1 x Pleco
  • 1 x Longfin Pleco
  • 1 x Ghost Knife
I will post next update once I get the glass.

I think the tank is awesome! But its too bad you dont plan on using it to its monster potential! Why not some arows or stingray or gar or p bass or clown knives, or dorado, or armatus, or dats, or mbu puffer or or or! my head is spinning thinking of all the incredible possibilities!:nilly:
