polka dot botia

Which species exactly are you referring to? I think you mean Botia Kobutai (Commonly called Polka Dot Loach, Botia Loach, Burmese Border Loach & Angelicus Botia Loach)? Is there just one Pictus Cat? What size tank? Any other fish in the tank?

Yup. them's the ones! In a 55G with only 4 Pictus? I would say go for it! I have 4 of the Kobutai & I love them. They are so much fun to watch. Just make sure you have plenty of hiding spots for everybody, as they might lose a fight with the Pictus. If I were in your shoes, I'd be tempted to throw 6 or 8 Botia Kobutai in there! You will need to treat them for internal & external parasites, though. Warning: They will play dead, burrow under decor, sleep on leaves, use other fish as ramps, re-arrange the substrate & trim your plants (whether they need it or not). By far my favorite fish I have ever kept. The bigger the group, the healthier they will be. They are awesome when they shoal at feeding time!

I doubt there has been an incident involving pictus eating these loaches. Just make sure they are plump enough to avoid being swallowed whether by accident or not. A lot of kubs are quite skinny and should be quarantined for at least a month before you try putting them in the main tank as a precaution.
