Here's a pic that shows some radical color differences between regional strains. The dark one is one of the new WC Samazi fronts. The other is a WC Maswa front.
I have a pair of Kitumba fronts in the 180 with the large sunshine oscars and foot+ long red bay snooks. Never had a problem between the different species. I keep that tank on the alkaline pH side since the SA species can tolerate it. The fronts are nearly matching the growth rates of the SA cichlids. I suspect that's due to the large water changes twice a week combined with Immunovital/Vita-Chem supplements and VHP (very high protein) foods. I started the VHP mainly for the Os because I want to break the "book" size for oscars. But, everyone else in the tank likes it so I figure "what the hell". It's only $. Plus, everything is growing like weeds in that tank.
