We were catching Puppy Drum consistantly when they blitzed in a hole off of the beach, I'm more of a fan of winter fishing than summer when the big fish like to come in and drive anything small up onto the beach. Our catches were all between 24" to 27"...hey it was better than working at least
The biggest fishy I ever caught was a Freshwater Drum. It was only maybe the third one I ever caught and I didn't know that they were in the lake I was fishing. I didn't even know they liked to live in lakes! I was sooo happy and surprised, it was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen! I guestimated that it was 17"+. That shoe is 9" if I remember correctly
The only 2 fish I got this past summer...my dad doesn't take me fishing any more
These were caught at my friends cottage, baby fish...but fish none the less
nice fish. i just started fishing 2 years ago so havent really had much experiance. but i caught a 16 inch largemouth bass last year. i started getting ready this year to go for the big fish when this bad winter came. i have a score to settle with a massive carp in a lake in front of my neighbors cabin. i had it on my line but i guess i did not set the hook right. i thought i did because the line shot out and traveled about 100 feet in about 10 seconds. i had the great plan of putting a bobber on the line at the base of my rod with about 20 yards of line out. i went up to tie a hook on for one of my friends and all of a sudden i hear a, ring ring ring ring, i look back and my bobber is flying across the surface of the water and slowly goes under water somehow. when the water was only about 10-15 feet deep. but i brought it in and we saw it next to shore and it was a common carp but it was probably about 15 pounds. so massive compared to what we were getting (nothing). but it went back out and suddenly jumped out of the water and threw the hook. it jumped clear out of the water, it was approximately 2 ft long. we were both yelling, Carp! Carp! and within 30 seconds my friends sister and another girl came over because they thought we were saying, Gar Gar. It was a big deal because they had just caught their first gar out of that lake the week before. i am going back to that lake to get a big fish this summer. i got a big catfish rod with 20 lb line on it and i am ready to do it. hoping for the best.
