very nice and i wil be adding my gurl next week after the prazi..she's already eating out of my hand!

i'm not sure what she will turn out but sure hope she's at this level!

so are all these marbles posted considered AAA?

if so what determines them to be AAA or "pearl" quality?

LJ, i think people should include what "price" they paid for the marble and the price they would sell it for now. in a way it gives us "MARBLE NOOBS" a chance to learn and know what a marble is worth when we are shopping for one..

Isn't price paid irrelevant? Just gonna make people seem greedy... Trust me, when buying Marbles most of the time it makes you sick knowing what was paid when comparing to sale price. Most of the time its a LOT easier to justify buying these things if you don't know... That way you feel great about your new ray rather then feeling like the seller took advantage of you. Kinda like the ackward conversation about your new girl's past. Sometimes you're better off NOT knowing, but rather just enjoying what you have. :)

It would make the current owner feel bad... Lol! ;) Like I said, paid price is one of those things best left unsaid. Especially considering some people's profit margin is enough to induce vomit. Hard to seperate these from the true hobbyists that don't profit hand over fist. You're bound to deal with both when it comes to Marbles.

there's no need for people to list the price paid. this about showing your rays, not finding out if people got a great deal or got ripped. and all these grading labels like "royal" "AAA" etc etc is all marketing IMO. its either a good quality marble or its not, thats all there is too it. fancy labels are an excuse for people to charge more

p.s. your font is too colorful ;)

Just curious, how are we to help marbles n00bs if price is never discussed?

Example - If I have just been offered a nice female marble, how can I know if the price is reasonable? I know, the most common response will be, "it depends on how badly you want it and what its worth to you." BUT this does not help the n00b IMHO....

Or perhaps I am reading your responses wrong, are we simply trying to keep this thread on topic suggesting a new thread be started?

well i for one, if i have questions about the price of a certain fish, i'll ask others via pm. i just see whose the most active in a particular subforum, and ask privately. or just ask other friends i know. i think youll be hard pressed to have people willing to publicly state how much they paid for a fish, rays in particular. ive been asked a few times in my threads and i never give the price. but if somebody asks through pm, ill tell them :)

Most really nice Marbles seem to be picked up for a few hundred and sold for several hundred or sometimes even over a thousand. I don't have a problem saying what I paid or what it would take for me to sell. BUT the price PAID for a ray is irrelevant, the only price that's relevant is the worth, value, or sale price. Dude buys a Marble for a few hundred. Turns out really nice, may be a thousand dollar ray. The fact that 200 originally bought it doesn't change what its worth. Owner decides worth, buyer either agrees by buying or refuses if they don't agree on value. Are vendors gonna tell us what THEY paid for a ray? NO, that's kinda private. Now sale price on the other hand? No body should have an issue saying what it would take to sell the ray. I have a couple I wouldn't let go for a grand, and I have several I won't get what I paid back out of them. Now how much did people profit from someone like me putting together a collection like I have? Thousands. Not uncommon to shell out $1K in profit to somedone with a diamond in the rough.
