Even appropriately sized tank mates will have a chance to be eaten. I've seen someone keep RTC with a clown featherback as large as the RTC, but the RTC ate the clown featherback anyway. Kinda scary..., but a very cool fish nonetheless.
well, with thin fish like clown knives or arowana, appropriatly sized IMO is at least 1.5x the sizze of the RTC/other large predatory cats.Even appropriately sized tank mates will have a chance to be eaten. If you are looking for somethink on the smaller side, but not too small, might I suggest the buttekoferi cichlid. get about 12 inches long and are mean as all hell. I have seen them in tanks with full grown dovii holding their own, so proceed with caution. Can you recommend predatory fishes to me? I don't mind if they're non-aggressive, moderately-aggressive, highly-aggressive, extreme and overly aggressive or territorial. I just want fish that are predatory or strictly predatory. Can be purely carnivorous or omnivorous, I don't mind. Currently, the predatory fishes that I have are clown knifefish, aba aba knifefish, annectens lungfish, dovii, jaguar cichlids, umbee cichlid, hoplias malabaricus, silver arowana(albino), jardini arowana, flowerhorns, red devil, midas cichlid, oscars, peacock bass, malawi eye biter, bichirs, venustus cichlids and more. Some are in my ponds, some are in my tanks. Anything besides what I currently have? Especially large species.
Mine is around 10 to 12 inches. Still kinda peaceful.Hows the ABA holding out. Mine got so mean after it grew a little!
They're banned here, but I will try, lol. It's just really hard to find one since it's illegal. If you are looking for somethink on the smaller side, but not too small, might I suggest the buttekoferi cichlid. get about 12 inches long and are mean as all hell. Thailand.Where is "here"?
Surprisingly, stingrays are highly predatory. When I first go mine, I put 4 x 6-7" african cichlids in the tank thinking they'd be fine. Wrong! The very next morning there was only 1 left![]()
ahhh, that makes a lot of sense, arent buttis a pretty big problem over there? I have heard they are akin to the plecos/snakeheads in southern floridaThailand.
