Predatory Fishes Recommendations?

ahhh, that makes a lot of sense, arent buttis a pretty big problem over there? I have heard they are akin to the plecos/snakeheads in southern florida
Not that big of a problem. In my country, the biggest problems are the common pleco and the blackchin tilapia. In my country, there was a species of peacock bass found which was monoculus, but somehow they decided to ban every peacock bass species in the existence. Next, they banned any kind of piranha even though there has never been any news of them found. Next, they banned Goliath tigerfish even though it has never been found in Thailand's water before, just like piranha and is extremely expensive. No one would be stupid enough to buy one and release them into the water. Peacock bass, piranha and goliath tigerfish are some of the most ridiculously banned fishes in my country. I wanted to have them, but they got banned without any reason.

Countries typically ban fishes from other nations that thrive in similar water conditions of that nation. It’s to prevent harm to their own ecosystem, and is called bio-security. As you look at the amount of aquarium trade fishes that can be caught in the local waters of many foreign countries it’s no wonder.
When I lived in Perth Australia I heard rumors of geophagus brasiliensis inhabiting some local water ways and a golf course pond. I took my cast net on a nocturnal mission and to my great surprise on my very first cast caught a 10” male geo! I caught probably close to 30 smaller ones that first night.
Sadly, some hobbyists have shown little care for their own local waters. These stupid actions result in bans such as you’re experiencing. Definitely not banned without any reason 🤗

No, but they banned peacock bass, like every species of them, just because monoculus, they banned every piranha species(never found btw) but then they only banned Goliath tigerfish(never found btw), but not the other tigerfish such as vittatus. They're biased 😂 plus it was the organization who banned these fishes, and is responsible for taking care of everything about fishes in my country. This organisation also released countless nile tilapia into the open water and some large catfish from other countries(Nile tilapia is alien species here). They also don't deal with the problems such as pleco or blackchin tilapia or whatsoever. At this point you can find nile tilapia, blackchin tilapia and pleco in every places in Thailand. Plus believe it or not, they banned Goliath tigerfish just because it looks scary. They said it. They should've deal with the already-existed problems and banned some real threatening fishes instead of some fish that has never been found invasive in Thailand in the first place. Hell, I'd say alligator gars and large catfishes are a lot more threatening to the ecosystem than piranha and goliath would ever be. I'd say they don't even know what they're doing themselves.

Haha I didn’t say their selection process made sense, but the powers in charge do what they wanna do. In theory to protect the economy systems, perhaps keeping the cash flowing has something to do with it as well 😂

we in the states feel you, for example snakeheads are banned pretty much everywhere, despite many statess not having a problem or even a single sighting. however, there were once upon a time, no exotic species in florida for example, and now because no one got a handle on it, it is more exotic than native. all i'm saying is in illinois where I live, i'd rather have a complete ban on channa and asian carp and have none of then than be in the state we are in now. not saying its fun, but please dont turn your country into florida. nobody needs more florida(no offense floridians)
