Hey guys I was curious as to if anyone knows a good premade sump I could use for my 360 gallon tank. Most the ones I see seem to "look" like something for a salt tank. I dont know sumps a whole lot. Thankyiuuuuu
Oh okay. Well for my aquarium size, what would you recommend? I have a LOT of biohome ultimate that is seeded in my fx6's that I'd like to add to whatever I use. I was maybe thinking a wet dry trickle filter? Are those good? Maybe add all the biohome ultimate underneath the trickle where it would be completely submerged?Sumps are just boxes or containers to put filter media, pumps and other gear in.
I have used old watertight barrels as sumps, old tanks, just about anything that holds the amount of water I want to use.
Some people put baffles in, I don't.
I believe pre-made are often a waste of money, because you can usually get a lot more volume for media, mechanical an biological out of an old scratched up tank a lot more inexpensively.
Pre-made might be OK if you're new at sumps, because they "might" come with everything you need.
I normally use old 75 gal tanks and put them off to the side (not directly under the tank), because they offer space, for lots of gear.and ease of maintenance.
Is there a place to buy one large enough for my 360 gallon?Wet dry are extremely effective filters. I had over 370g with of tanks on a wet dry, 0 ammonia and nitrite. They can be loud though.
Yeah after looking at pricing it seems kinda pointless. I think I may just get a 75 gallon. Find some sort of filter sock holders, and have 2 filter socks. My media and heaters in the center and a return pump. Would that work better than my fx6's? I mean I'd have more room for media for sure. Just curious if like flow wise it would be betterwww.fishtanksdirect.com
Or go the route the others are guiding You to...
Grab a 75g at Petco, buy an overflow box online or at LFS... pump and some plumbing...
