i have heard that some fish require a varied diet in in the aquarium. iv been feeding my black kuhli loaches hikari micro pellets and on rare occasions blood worms. is this a suitable diet for them or should i be supplementing with other things?

you're feedind them appropriately. i fed mine flake, too. keep feeding what you're feeding and your's wil get to a nice size.
Prometheus, all fish require a varied diet. Commercial foods alone make only a substantial portion of the total diet. Kuhli loaches can polish off crushed snails, chopped earthworms, bloodworms, daphnia, mosquito larva, daphnia and brine shrimps. In addition, they also eat gel foods which you add vegetable matter into.
I keep about 15 kuhli with my cherry's. And the cherry population is booming. So I have to say no to them eating shrimps.
I also feed them peeled green peas. They love it. But crushed snails and bloodworms are their favorites.

Kuhlis are a bit oblivious to almost anything although no more oblivious than the corydoras. They really will not prey on shrimps and snails compared to most other loaches.
