The wild type do come in. Your LFS can order them from a wholesaler, the problem is when they come in the sell at 1/4 the speed of the golds. I believe Nautilus used to have them on their list once or twice a year.
I’ve reached out to multiple cichlid dealers and online vendors and they all claim they haven’t seen them in years. Segrest has the gold ones listed but that’s it. All I see are greens (E. suratensis).

Two pairs spawned about five days apart. One pair’s fry went free-swimming last night while the other pair’s were hatching. It’s nice to get free-swimmers; this pair has eaten their wrigglers for the last five or six spawns. Hopefully the second pair eventually gets it right, too.
