Purina Sinking Catfish Food 50 lbs INGREDIENTS

No one was called an "idiot". Bob just pointed out that you clearly lack an understanding of what is defiend as "protein" in the pet food industry.

Your fingernails are protein, but they aren't digestible. I could make you a mix of corn starch and fingernail clippings that would meet the pet food industry standard!

Excuse me mam (female), are those feeders in your tilapia tank?

And I will again ask you to read:
He is now 9 years old. He is about 15" long and lives with a school of about 40 giant danios, 15 danios and a sail fin pleco. (Originally there were only 14 giant danios and 9 danios, but every time I count them, there are more!)

He is a vegetarian. I have never been able to get him to eat a meat product.

It's a nice looking fish you have.

But all the stuff eating Hikari/whatever?.. Look's as good, Saying Hikari is "junk" is a real reach. I use it with Shrimp as my main diet and have real good luck.

I would say...feed your fish the best food you can afford and call it a day. Not everyone can afford to drop $5/lb on shrimp, tilapia, salmon, etc. Not everyone can afford $50 per 2lb bag of hikari.

Its not fair to judge someone for feeding their pet a lesser quality food because thats all they can afford. We just need to inform that there are better alternatives if they ever decide to upgrade.

Well said, Mr. Ed.

After the tainted pet food thing a couple years past I started paying a lot of attention to ingredients in all my pets' food. I found that ingredient wise Omega One was the "best" fish food. However, Omega One does not market a large size sinking pellet for my ray and other big fish. So I use Hikari when I feed pellets.

I just wanted to chime in and say I got a free 50lb bag as a test. The sinking 500 purina aquamax, doesn't sink, or at least the bag they gave me doesnt. Which renders it useless for me.

No reason to attack kd for sharing her experience and knowledge on the matter. I respect both chompers and kd's opinions, they provided a good argument and backed it up well with facts. As of right now, I'm feeding more tilapia and other prepared foods. But, I haven't stopped feeding a commercial pellet, because of its ease of feeding and some benefits. I think we have to find a equilibrium of both methods that suits us.
Yes please folks lets please keep it civil towards KD and Chompers as they are both making excellent points.
