Purussaurus, the skull discovered was 5 feet in length, weighing 500 Kilograms. This discovered specimen is estimated to be 50 feet in length, over 9 feet in width and standing 5 feet in height weighing over 18 tones. It is said to be a monster Caiman.

However the discovered fossil was not with the trace of old age, lost of teeth etc. It is believed to be a young specimen, the man who discovered said ,"..it could have went on...60 feet...70 feet..eventually struggling to survive with its size." He also said ,"the only competitor of Purussaurus was another Purussaurus."

"Purussaurus reigned supreme as one of the largest non-marine predators of all time. This monster caiman, reaching 16 meters (50 feet) and weighing over 18 tones, terrorized the Amazon Basin up until about 6 million years ago. Its fossilized skull alone weighed 500 kilograms!"

I can't find the picture of the skull, it was HUGE...5 feet is as long as T-Rex's skull length, however Purussaurus is far heavier than T-Rex. Can you imagine what a sight that would have been?

Other known Monster Crocs were the Supercroc Sarcosuchus Imperator ( Flesh Crocodile Emperor ), discovery site : Niger, discovered skull length 6 feet, estimated body length 37-40 feet. Estimated body weight 8 metric tons (or 8,000 kg), which equals 8.75 English tons (which equals about 17,500 pounds!) ( Pictures below )

And then there is the Phobosuchus ( Terrible Crocodile ) also called Deinosuchus more similar to the alligator than contemporary crocodile and was probably more like a saltwater crocodile in habit. For several decades it is known to be the largest Crocodile ever to roam the earth. The skull of Deinosuchus measures more than 2 m (6 ft 7 in) from front to back and has a broad rather than narrow snout. Recent studies have reduced the estimate of the animal's total length from more than 15 m (50 ft) to between 10 m and 12 m (33 ft & 40 ft) weighing up to 9 tones. ( Pictures below )

There is also Ramphosuchus, a giant marine gharial which reached lengths of 15-18m, probably even more. This animal was of similar size than megalodon, but like modern gharials it had surely a long slender snout and was specialized so catch fish.

Great post!

Those animals are absolutely incredible. It's a shame they're no longer in existence.
