Ha, well... let's see. I got her as a sub-adult when I was fourteen or fifteen. I'm twenty now. So while I don't know what her exact age was when I got her, I would guess she was probably a yearling; maybe a bit older but I'm willing to bet not by much. She was three inches or so when I got her, and she's palm sized now. And I've got big palms.
I tried to pull her out for some pictures earlier... in addition to getting rid of the PVC, I did a big water change to get rid of whatever the white crap floating around my tank was... and she launched herself clean out of the tank. So... I guess no photo-op today xD
It's interesting that PVC has a specific temperature rating. I also hadn't considered the number of people who use PVC for sumps and things like that. I also wonder how much the specific pH value of the water affects the life of the PVC pipes.
I started looking into the specific safety of different kinds of plastics in response to all the news coverage that disposable plastic has been getting. I have more than a few rubbermaid enclosures for my amphibians, some of which are full of water. I know that's different than disposable plastic, but I was able to find a chart of the recycling codes and what they mean, and some of the enclosures I'd been using came up dirty for BPA and other nasties like that. So I've been trying to do my due diligence... if it's not good enough for me, it's not good enough for my animals
