Quarantine floating plants?

So I got my order of duckweed from an ebay seller who says their duckweed is grown indoors hydroponically and not sourced from a pond or lake. So no pathogens so they say.

The duckweed itself is extremely healthy and green...a sandwich bag full and not an off color piece anywhere. Anyone ever qt floating stuff and if so how?

I also discovered the missing duckweed in Lazarus' tank has been found, at least some of it. The filter was full of it (it was packed under the filter media) and I caught it in time. The water level was right up to the lip of the filter. Not sure how this happened it never did before. Time to put a prefilter back on.

Right now the new duckweed is in a bucket under a lamp with a bit of seachem flourish.

I’ve never really bothered quarantining it, but if you’re going to that seems like the way to go. 60 days or so without any fish should suffice to get any nasties out.

I should’ve quarantined my last order of floaters…Amazon frogbit and Red root floaters. They came in looking great but they had string algae trapped in the roots. Caused a mess in my tanks and I had to toss them all and redo my tanks.

I’m usually less worried about parasites and pathogens in my plants then I am about pests and nuisances like snails and algae but haven’t figured out quarantine.

If I order floaters again, I’d probably leave them in a bucket with a lid and let them sit in total darkness for some time to get rid of the algae but have no clue how get rid of snails. Bleach or hydrogen peroxide is out for me as they often damage my plants. Maybe potassium permanganate?

Yah I usually use Alum. Only thing is for floaters I don't want to mess up the root systems. Might just let them sit in the bucket for awhile and see if I can get a thick mat, lol.
