They are about 4-5". We feed them smelts and shrimp mostly. Its pretty easy to pick their food up at the grocery store with our regular groceries. XD Just pop them in and thaw them with warm water and they go nuts for them. Especially the shrimp. The feeders were sort of a treat. They never really get them but they like to chase them and scare them.

I am not sure of the brand or size but it is a bio-wheel. The lady we bought the tank from bred koi and so the tank and filter came together (amazing price too she was really eager to get rid of it).

emperor 400?

keep an eye on water parameters, might want to add an other one if the parameters are not in check. as I said rbps are messy eaters and over filter is always a good thing.

Yeah we are very attentive. We have some crabs and small crawdads that seem unnoticed by the piranhas and they do a good job too. Plus if they get eaten they are easy enough to replace. Mostly the P's think they are parts of the scenery.

We've yet to have a filtration problem (and yes that's it) but I am always willing to pick up a new filter. I did it in their old tank :D

They are some of our favorites among our tanks though. I think they are really pretty (and ours have some good color) and sometimes they shoot me challenging looks through the glass lol

I just noticed that one of the three is especially fatter and the color is much more brilliant. They much be reaching maturity as this is the first time such a change has been obvious. Does this make her female? I've never given much thought to sexing my fish, as I'm not interested in breeding them very much.

If it is a she, I think she'll have to be Curly.. she's certainly not a Larry or a Moe! Lol

you cannot tell piranha's sex by appearance, but in usually female should be thicker than male.

yep however with rbp's and caribes (not sure about pirayas) they begin to develop black pigmintation when there old enough to breed

Thanks guys, for the info.
