We all hope to obtain "status" in society. I can understand why a juvenile mind would wish this kind of attention as a "look at me" statement. The backlash is not always expected. I would assume he wanted the feeling of care and concern we would all show for is loss and then cheer him up with praise for his monster tank.
I think someone needs a wittle huggy wuggy.
