Think they'd be a good summer pond fish?

Matt

In nature (in their Costa Rican habitat) Herotilapia often spawn in shallow pools of seasonal floodplains where night time temps drop to 60'F and day temps of up to 100'F.
There is a great article about them on cichlidae.com by Paul Loiselle called "Those Other Central American Cichlids - Part One Herotilapia multispinossa"

I think they'd be fabulous summer pond fish.
My pond is maxed out with Gymnos, red ceibals and the Uruguayan pikes this year, but seems like a good idea for next.
I noticed this morning the male ceibals have roughed up lips from sparring, seems they all want the space for spawning under the lilies.
Sorry for the hijack, but had to have a conversation with Matt.
And for those who think fractionation doesn't work in fresh water, this vid is from the cichlid pond.

Looks like a chanchito habitat, Duane :)

I bet that Herotilapia would develop some amazing color outside as well!
