mine could be bigger if i fed him more, like twice a day. I visited a farm and learned that they reach 24" in one year, fed strictly fish paste and pellets. but slow down growth from 24-36" in the next year, then from there, just a few inches every year, most stop at 4-5 feet lenght total. if you look at public aquariums like georgia, the 1500000 gallon tank, the bbg are about 5' long, not 10 feet like most would think. also consider thick acrylic have a magnifying effect on fish as well. i only feed my super large fish a small amount of fish daily or every other day. never do i feed him until he can't eat anymore.
at 4 years, they reach about 40 pounds, 50" at the farms, and sell them to the seafood industry in Hong Kong and China, where is consumed daily.
