What kind of catfish is this, there is one for sale locally listed as a silver silk catfish but a search returns nothing close
It's actually a marine fish (That can live for as much as a few months in fresh water) and although it looks a bit like a catfish it isn't.

It is a polynemus and their are at least 9 species

Polynemus aquilonaris
Polynemus bidentatus
Polynemus dubius
Polynemus hornadayi
Polynemus kapuasensis Kapuas
Polynemus melanochir dulcis
Polynemus melanochir melanochir
Polynemus multifilis
Polynemus paradiseus

I've owned 2 species.

P. paradiseus I bought from Oliver Lucanus and his business partner Sean in 1997 in Montreal and kept it alive for about 12 months in freshwater not realizing it need a gradual transition from fresh to marine.
P. multifilis I bought from John and Fred at Pets Plus Lockport New York.

Great fish if you choose to get one.

I'm going to post a series of fish that I've kept in the past, comments are welcomed and I'll try to include some information about the fish, some of which I don't even have much info. and would be great if everyone could share their experiences!

First in my album collection- Megalancistrus gigas from Brazil this beast made big craters on my acrylic tank!
At what temp do u keep ur k.perch?

Latest acquisition: NOT FOR SELL- DON'T ASK. I know what the id is, does anyone want to give it a shot?

the large silver fish with the notched jaw, not the smaller barilius sp. :)
Thats a Opsariichthys uncirostris amurensis used to keep some when I was doing a korean native..Very good jumpers.. just under a dollar for a 3~4 incher here in korea
