I haven't had the chance to get a full tank shot yet. I'm waiting for an African shipment, once I get it, I'll let you know.

Cheers,

Wes
Cool, can't wait to see the tank shot. And I guess that's a NO on the Tanganikan perch?

Regarding the Bumble bee Grouper being in freshwater- I have seen yours and many others in freshwater, so no doubt I believe they can live in freshwater. The question I have is for how long? I need hard evidence before I believe something and all the BB groupers I have seen have been babies in freshwater. So until I personally see an adult or even sub adult in freshwater then I am not a believer that a BB Grouper can be raised in freshwater it's entire life. There are many species of fish that live in freshwater as juvies and move into full saltwater as adults. Some can live in both as adults, but I doubt that the BB grouper is one of them because I'm sure by now someone in this world would have proof of it.

Cheers,

Jarrett

nah, its anguila bangalensis, giant eels :)

Here is another fish, that you'll probably never see, and even less so with this many spots. The true chitala chitala. Clown knives are not exported out of India, all from Thailand and Indonesia. These are exceptional looking wild ones, with more than usual spots. Don't confuse this with chitala oranata (common) and chitala blanci, even those 2 are very beautiful themselves.

Wes, I thought Chitala's were solid silver without spots? They also get the largest out of all the knives too right?

chitala lopis is the largest, spotless one.
chitala ornata is the common one, but some are real nice with multiple spots
chitala blanci is the royal clown knife, pretty standard
chitala chitala is the true indian one, the spots don't have a white band around them, and usually don't many spots, and they have gold bands running down the back. There are only a couple of picture on the internet if you google it up, most show chitala ornata instead.

Cheers!

So Fugupuff, let me get this strait you are keeping a bumble bee grouper in pure f/w? A former friend of mine had one once but it was in pure salt. How did you acclmate and is it just a juvenile thing or what. I want one!

I think we were talking the same tank here....I brought a use one just like yours in 1994 or 1995 from a Chinese guy and kept it for two or three years, than I sold it to a fish store owner in San Gabriel some where in Los Angeles 1997...here were the video the owner took and I believe he sold it to somebody again these days......
