what would you suggest duanes as to keeping these fry alive. I did rustle up a 15 gallon but no heater or light only a filter i have for my girlfriends old 2 gallon which would i suppose be better then nothing.
The 15 with a daily water change to keep the temp up might work and id like to see this too I had a chanchito but he never showed interstate in any other fish
I believe room temp will be fine. I have fry in the pond at the moment, and night time air temps have been in the high 40sF here. Ceibals are very tolerant.
Hardy as well are the convicts. So now leaves the question of how to remove them from the mother and what is the safest way for the fry. I have used turkey Basters before but got a feeling its going to be trickier this time.
I want a pair of ceibal convict cichlids................I am on tour right now for the next two weeks, hopefully they do not extend my tour any longer, I miss home, my fish aquariums...............
I am currently at work for the weekend will be returning home tonight. I hope that the fry are still kicking. I wilpost pictures this evening or in themorning of their growth if uch growth has takin place.
Poor pictures I now but the best I can do. a few pictures of the fry and mother and semi full tank shot to show where the ceibal father hangs out and female convict hangs ut with babies. Also a picture of male ceibal. The fry move around without female convict now bt still follow her if she goes a bit far away from them.
