most barred midas are wild caught, and thats usually why they're so expensive and hard to find in some areas

i bought 3 a month and a half ago really small and there getting really big really fast. growth rate to match my sveni pike that spent a month in my pond with gobs to eat kind of fast. thats the whole story exept that they eat and eat and eat and eat and chase everything smaller than them, well bigger too. does my story sound kind of common? then theres the big one i got yesterday, he's lazy and lets goldfish swim around him like theres no big deal and no reason to kill them. wierd huh usually they dont need a reason sight is reason enough. one last thought, i think i read something somewhere that said that a barred midas would have to be either wild caught or first gen tank bred or it wouldnt have bars anymore? right or b.s.?

From what I know barred devils are all closely related to the wild. I think farthest they can go from their roots would be f3's and that would be pushing it.

f0 = wild caught
f1 = from wild caught parents
f2 = wildcaught grandparents
f3 = deformed fish from line breeding lol

Two of my f2 midas were barred but they peeled into regular midas around 4".

If you breed a f0 with a tank bred fish it does not mean anything. If you breed a f1 with a f2 it qualifies as a f2.

I'm no expert though, just stuff I learned off of the forums over time.
