I just picked up a nice pair, a white devil and red female devil. gonna let them rest then I'll take some photos tommorow. the guy said they been a pair for over a year but have never spawned. is this bad? or do you think the water parameters weren't to their liking?

doesn't sound like a pair to me.. Did you vent them before buying?

They might be male and female, but maybe not a pair...

they are a pair just not a mated pair. anytime you add a fish they team up and kill it and they are always together

What are the chances of successfully housing a M/F pair in a 100g tank? (60x18 footprint) I have the chance to get a fantastic male but I really like my female too, and don't know if it'd be worth it, especially risking her safety.

my devil tank finally snapped, theres like 3 beat up fish in there and 2 males going lip to lip. I'm going to home depot to get egg crate soon..

I might pull some of the more aggressive ones and put them in a 20gallon until I can take them to the LFS.
